Mr. Mohamed Mostafa Aitani, Secretary-General of the Arab Federation Shipping, participated in the Fourth Expatriate Economy Conference held under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Joseph Aoun. The event held at the Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel in Beirut on August 8, 2025.
The conference was opened by Mr. Raouf Abou Zaki, CEO of the Economy and Business Group, who welcomed both expatriate and resident attendees. He highlighted the importance of holding the conference annually, especially in light of the challenging circumstances Lebanon is currently facing. He noted that the Economy and Business Group launched this initiative in 2015, with the fifth edition scheduled for next year.
In his address, His Excellency President Joseph Aoun emphasized that despite the severe collapse Lebanon has experienced in recent years across various sectors, the Expatriate remained the country’s unwavering lifeline. He praised the expatriates for consistently answering the call in times of need, often acting faster and more effectively than the state itself. He concluded by thanking all attendees for their participation.
At the end of the conference, Mr. Raouf Abou Zaki presented the “Leadership in Achievement” award to His Excellency President Joseph Aoun in recognition of his efforts and contributions. The event also honored a number of business leaders who have achieved remarkable success both locally and internationally.
